A daring palette, subversive strokes and renegade self-expression are characteristics of Artistas Revolucionarios; a slightly less than seditious show on display through August that showcases the talent of six emerging and established Denver Latino/a artists.

The work, which includes a superb collection of colorful paintings, drawings and jewelry, serves as a glorious reminder of the vibrant cultural art scene our city has to offer.

Los artistas are CHAC Board Members Tony Vecchio, Danny Vigil, Javier Flores and Jeanette Montoya; CHAC's Education Director, Veronica Herrera; and this year the show includes CHAC member JOLT.

Colorado State Fair

A number of paintings are at the annual Art Exhibit in conjunction with Fiesta Day (September 2nd) at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. In addition, one of the paintings has been selected to grace the cover of this years event guide. The State Fair attracts more than 460,000 people over 11 days and Fiesta Day is a celebration of Colorado's Hispanic heritage. The day kicks off with a parade and includes mariachi music, dance, charros, the crowning of the Fiesta Queen as well as a concert by Los Lonely Boys. The art exhibit will be at the Colorado Heritage Center with an artists reception on September 1st at 3:00.

Artistas Libre!

A lively palette and passionate self-expression are characteristics of Artistas Libre; a show on display through July at the Chicano Humanities & Arts Council (CHAC) on 772 Santa Fe Drive. The event showcases the talent of six emerging and established Denver Latino/a artists. The work, which includes paintings, drawings, sculpture and jewelry, serves as a superb reminder of the vibrant cultural art scene our city has to offer.

Artistas Libre will run July 1st through the 28th at CHAC Gallery, 772 Santa Fe Drive. A First Friday reception with the artists will be held on Friday, July 6th from 6-10 p.m.

Milagros del Corazon

Next weekend, February 9th, CHAC will be hosting their 8th Annual silent auction and fundraiser "Milagros del Corazon". Tickets are $5 and proceeds from the auction benefit the cultural arts programming at the Chicano Humanities Arts Council. I'll have some work there along with tons of terrific artists so come down and enjoy some food and music.

Children's Hospital exhibit

Chile Harvest Festival

I won't be showing at this years Chile Harvest Festival, but I will definately be attending. Check out the Chile Harvest Festival at the Botanic Gardens on September 10 and 11 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. to enjoy great local Latino bands, dance groups, artists and food.

Thanks to everyone who attended the last show at The Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC). It was a pleasure to show with Mike Juarez again as well as Javier Flores, Josiah Lopez and Rogelio Quiñones. Thanks also to La Voz for the terrific review.
